5 Easy Valentine’s Day box printables for exchanging cards. Free templates that include your choice of a Valentine’s Day panda, mermaid, unicorn, frog or an astronaut!

Valentine’s Day usually sneaks up on me. I’m still in the lull of Christmas and New Years when suddenly a printed paper of all the classmates names makes it into their take home folder, along with an online sign up sheet for food and candy for the class party.
Already?! Welcome to the good ol’ days flying by, or something like that.

Ok, so we’re living in the good ol’ days and hanging on for the ride as best we can, but time still screams past us.
Maybe you’ll buy your own Valentine’s Day box at the store to keep is quick and easy but the idea of making your own out of a shoebox seems like something a young kid should do.
In Kindergarten we used craft paper and poster board to make a mermaid tail. In first grade we did a panda with folded construction paper arms holding a heart. With each year we try to be creative but I’m just not the mom with empty toilet paper rolls and a 1000 pom pom’s and knows what to do with them.

But that’s ok! because this is supposed to be just for fun anyways.
5 EASY VALENTINE’S DAY BOX PRINTABLES
I’ve made these Valentine’s Day box printables using both color and black and white. The idea is that you can either print them in full color to glue onto your shoebox or print them in black and white and let the kids color their own. Also, there may be a couple of you a little bit low on colored printer ink. (like myself most of the time)
Simply pick your favorite design and print them on your home printer.
These designs are quite large being 8.5×11 inches, so be sure to measure your shoebox and print to the scale you desire. For example if your shoebox is smaller you might want to choose 80% scale in the print box menu.

I changed my mind. Show me some cute Valentine’s Day boxes that I can buy instead.
- Unicorn Valentine’s Day box kit with 32 cards and teacher card
- Minecraft Valentine’s Day box kit with 32 cards and teacher card
Materials
- Printer & paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Shoebox
- Markers (optional)
- White spray paint/paint (optional) to paint the shoebox
- Utility knife to cut an opening for the Valentine’s Day cards
Spray paint or paint your shoebox white.
Decide how you’ll like the kids to put the Valentine’s Day cards into the box. Either by opening the shoebox or by cutting an opening along the top as it’s standing up.
Measure your shoebox and print your favorite designs above using your home printer. Be sure to select the correct scale before printing. Scale 100% will print a full 8.5×11 image with white border as shown below.

Cut out the designs and glue onto the box.

Allow to fully dry.

PRO TIP
If your shoebox is a bit smaller than the printed images, glue the images onto a poster board and cut and glue onto the shoebox.
With today’s busy schedules these Valentine’s Day box printables are perfect for a last minute creation while keeping it simple. I hope you enjoy them as much as my kiddos do.
Best Wishes!
