Campfire apple crisp. The best easy and delicious apple crisp recipe made right over the fire, in less than 30 minutes.

I love cooking over the campfire. Tin foil packets, soups, and even this easy campfire apple crisp. My husband isn’t as big of a fan of campfire cooking as I am. Probably because he’s the one in charge of starting (and maintaining) the fire for all my cooking needs.
But what’s camping without a few campfire recipes?
Follow me on…

Campfires are a huge part of camping. So when you can find a few easy recipes, they become a camping meal staple. And since this one uses ingredients that are versatile, it’s an added bonus.
So start the fire babe! I’m craving some apple crisp.
Campfire Apple Crisp
Ingredients
- 2-3 apples
- ¾ cup granola
- ¼ cup sugar
- 3 TBS butter
- 1 ½ tsp. cinnamon
- pinch nutmeg
- lemon juice (optional)
- ice cream (optional)

Thinly slice your apples and place in cast iron skillet. Sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. (Add a bit of lemon juice if you have it. The tartness is delicious.)

Top with granola and butter.

Cover with tin foil and place on a grate over the fire for approximately 10-15 minutes. Be sure to keep an eye on it. You want the apples soft but not mushy.

What apples should I use?
- Honeycrisp
- Granny Smith
- Golden Delicious
Honeycrisp, Granny Smith and Golden Delicious are all great choices for this campfire recipe, however, you can really use any apple you have on hand. Just be sure to check them or they might get too soft for apple crisp.

With a little bit of ice cream or whipped cream on top makes this easy campfire apple crisp so delicious! But this is camping, so I can’t image many will have those on hand. But if for some reason you do, the added cream turns this already great dish into the perfect dessert.
