WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS RECIPE

  • Simple ingredients: This recipe is made with only four simple ingredients. Condensed milk, chocolate chips, vanilla extract, and walnuts.
  • Perfectly creamy: Since we’re using condensed milk, this recipe is so smooth and creamy you’ll have a hard time stopping at one fudge square.
  • Customizable: You may already have these ingredients on hand or switch an ingredient out to fit your personal preference. Try peanuts instead or skip the nuts all together. Or maybe get crazy and add some marshmallows to make homemade rocking road fudge!
  • Crowd-pleaser: This dessert is a favorite among holiday gatherings and potlucks.
  • Easy prep: Prepping this fudge only takes a few short minutes before it goes in the fridge to set completely.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 14 oz. can condensed milk
  • 2.5 cups milk chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup chopped walnuts
Fudge recipe steps 1-4. Including ingredients, saucepan, and tin foil.

STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS

Prep your ingredients. Line a 9×13 baking dish with tin foil, leaving a bit of an overhang for easy removal. Note-You can flip the dish upside down and form the foil to the dish and then simply place the tin foil inside. That way you get a perfect fit in the corners.

Melt the chocolate. Over low heat, in a medium saucepan, combine 2 ½ cups chocolate chips and 1- 14oz can sweetened condensed milk, stirring frequently with a spatula. Add 1 tsp. vanilla extract and fold in ½ cup chopped walnuts, leaving the remaining nuts to sprinkle on top.

Steps 5-9 of fudge recipe. Including Cutting the fudge into squares.

Pour and set. Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared dish and smooth the top with a spatula. Add remaining chopped walnuts and gently press them into the mixture. Refrigerate for at least two hours to allow the fudge to fully set.

Slice and serve. Once set, use the edges of the tin foil to lift the fudge out of the dish. Slice into small squares or rectangles and enjoy!

COOKING TIPS

Although this is a simple fudge recipe made with condensed milk, these tips will help in making sure you have no problems while tying it out for yourself.

  • Don’t overheat: Melt the chocolate and sweetened condensed milk at a low temperature to avoid scorching.
  • Perfect slicing: Use a large knife to cut into squares and remove the edges for a crisp, clean look.
  • Lining the pan: Lining the pan with tin foil is key to the fudge coming out smoothly after set in the refrigerator. You can also use parchment paper if that’s what you have on hand.
  • 9×13 pan: By using a 9×13 pan, our fudge is a little less thick but cuts nicely into more bite sized squares. You can also use an 8×8 pan which will give you a thicker fudge and small share sizes.
  • Remember- Remember that condensed milk and evaporated milk are not the same and can not be switched out in this recipe. This recipe uses 1 14oz can of sweetened condensed milk.

VARIATIONS

I love a recipe I can make my own. There are a lot of times I try to use things already on hand instead of making a special trip to the grocery store. This recipe is easily customizable as long as you don’t switch out the three key ingredients. Condensed milk, chocolate chips, and vanilla extract.

Nut tree: Skip the nuts or replace them with pecans or another favorite.

Mini marshmallows: Add mini marshmallows for a Rocky Road fudge. Just make sure you remove the mixture from the heat before doing so, or your marshmallows will quickly melt.

Different toppings: Add festive toppings such as M&M’s, crushed cookies, sea salt, or pretzels. Be sure to push them down gently before the fudge sets and try not to overwhelm the already indulgent fudge taste.

FUDGE STORAGE DIRECTIONS

Store in airtight container for up to one week, but be sure to keep it away from direct sunlight. You can also refrigerate this fudge for up to two weeks. Be sure to let it come to room temperature before serving for a better fudge texture.

This chocolate walnut fudge recipe made with condensed milk is a dream come true to anyone with a sweet tooth. Whether you’re making it for a holiday gathering, thoughtful gift, or just a treat for the family, this fudge is sure to be a hit.
