However, every so often I’ll get that chocolate and peanut butter craving and really wish I hadn’t skipped that particular aisle at the store.

How To Make Homemade Peanut Butter Cups

Gather your ingredients

Melt ¾ cup milk chocolate using a double broiler or microwave. Heat slowly in short bursts (20 seconds in the microwave at a time) stirring frequently to avoid chocolate from becoming too hot and seizing.

Line a muffin tray with paper or silicon liners and add an even amount of melted chocolate to the bottom of each liner. Spread flat using a butter knife or similar. You can also tap the tray on the counter to help it settle.

Place in freezer to chill.

In a medium bowl add ½ cup peanut butter, 12 crushed crackers, ¼ cup powdered sugar and 1 TBS melted butter. Mix together until smooth and combined.

Tip- Crush crackers in a ziplock sandwich bag to turn them into a fine dust.

Assemble the peanut butter cups-

Take the muffin tin from the freezer and add a small spoonful of the peanut butter mixture to the 12 liners, taking care not to overfill them.

Push flat with the back of a spoon.

Melt remaining milk chocolate using short burst in the microwave and fill each liner evenly. Use a toothpick or butterknife to help make a flat top or tap on the counter to help smooth it out. (you can also give the tray a little giggle for the chocolate to get into all the little spaces.)

Place in freezer or refrigerator for 15 minutes to fully set.

Bring to room temperature before eating.

How to store leftovers

Store leftovers in a single layer in an air tight container in the refrigerator up to five days.

They can be stored in an air tight container on the kitchen counter, but they will become soft depending on how warm the kitchen is.
