Homemade pizza sauce. Easy recipe made with simple ingredients in under 30 minutes. Plus directions for both smooth and chunky sauce.

In 2017 we decided to learn how to make pizza at home. It was going to become our family night thing to do.
Fast forward a few years and we are not only making our own pizza sauce, we also make our own dough and have even perfected both pizza in the oven and on the grill.
It’s safe to say that pizza night in our house is here to stay, along with ways to keep it simple. Like this 30 minute easy pizza sauce recipe.

PIZZA SAUCE RECIPE
Ingredients
- 1 28 oz. can whole peeled tomatoes in juices
- 1 6 oz. can tomato paste
- ½ onion
- 4 cloves fresh garlic
- 1 TBS olive oil
- 1 tsp. basil
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 2 TBS pure maple syrup (or honey)
- ½ tsp. salt
- ¼ tsp. pepper
- pinch of crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
CHUNKY PIZZA SAUCE
Heat saucepan over medium high heat. Add 1 TBS oil and ½ chopped onion. Once the onion becomes soft add in 4 minced garlic cloves. Allow to cook about 30-45 seconds stirring a few times.
Add 28 oz. can of whole peeled tomatoes in the juices. Cut the whole tomatoes into chunks using kitchen scissors.
Add remaining ingredients to include 6 oz. tomato paste, 1 tsp. basil, 1 tsp. oregano, 2 TBS pure maple syrup, ½ tsp. salt, ¼ tsp. pepper, and a pinch of red pepper flakes (optional).
Allow to simmer covered for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

SMOOTH PIZZA SAUCE
