How to keep a bed clean with pets. My number one tip for keeping a clean AND beautiful bed with two large dogs.

My dogs are spoiled! We started off trying to do it all right things when they were puppies. No going on the sofa, ringing a bell to go outside and no sleeping on our bed!

But as they learned the rules, we allowed ourselves to bend the rules. Proving to be frustrating on rainy days or after rolling in the dirt. How can we have a clean AND beautiful bed?

Of course you can find those bed comforter covers or simply cover your bed with a blanket. But I would never have a beautiful bed. It would always be covered with a plain blanket.

I don’t know about you, but walking into my bedroom and seeing an inviting, fluffy and comfortable bed brings me joy. Since we are and always will be a dog family, I had to figure something out. Because washing a comforter (or duvet cover) frequently, is not fun.

HOW TO KEEP A BED CLEAN WITH DOGS (and beautiful)

After frequent comforter washings, dog baths and buying darker blankets to cover everything up, I had an idea.

Why not use a fabric shower curtain?

They come in beautiful colors
Easy to wash
Will fit over a queen size bed

With all the beautiful designs and colors, I’d easily find two or three that I’d love! And they can be washed and rotated with no hassle at all.

As you can see in the photo above, it fits along a queen bed top but only goes a couple of inches down the sides. That’s not a problem for us but I do want to make you aware of it so you have no surprises.

This was the perfect solution to still having a beautiful, inviting bed and being able to keep it clean, with allowing the dogs free roam of the house. The shower curtain may not be waterproof depending on the fabric, but our dogs are older and that isn’t a problem. It keeps our bed clean from dirt, dust, hair, grass and occasional light mud.

As much as I’d love a perfectly clean house, it’s almost an impossible task with small children and pets. At least this way we have an easy solution for a clean bed and spoiling our puppies.

When looking for a shower curtain you may want something cotton or water resistant. Be sure to pay attention to the tops. Some may have metal rings while others may just have slits in the fabric.
