The weather has been gorgeous! But my youngest has been lacking in the imagination department a bit lately. To be fair, we all go through creative stages and motivation and she’s usually the one cutting, creating, and making up elaborate storylines for all of her mini squishmallows friends.

But the other day she said “I’m bored”. The sun was shinning, the TV was off, the house was all warm and cozy and even with all her crafts and stuffed animals she was still bored.

There was no way I was going to cave to a video game or TV. What she really needed was a bit of a creative boost. I mentioned a few of our normal activities. Legos, blocks, drawing, puzzles but she wasn’t interested in any of those. I thought about it for a minute, thinking about what might sound fun but nothing too in depth that it would create a mess or be too involved.

Kids Fall Craft + Color and Cut Gnome

So together we created this kids fall craft with color and cut out gnome! I’m not sure why getting a printer involved makes it more fun, but I’m guessing it’s because it’s new and something we made together.

The large tin of colored pencils were carried downstairs from her bedroom and I found the kids scissors and tape before she settled in front of the coffee table with all the supplies around her. She took her time coloring, cutting, and taping it together before showing me her creation.

This kids fall craft activity was a simple way to get her creative juices flowing and before I knew it, she was back playing squishmallows and building tiny houses, and I have a new fall decoration on my refrigerator.
