Turkey pot pie recipe made with simple ingredients. Delicious homemade turkey pot pie that the family will love.

One of my favorite things to pick up from the store is a large frozen turkey breast. Once thawed, I pop it in the crock pot and 7 hours later I have delicious turkey to turn into everything!

It’s safe to say that when springtime rolls around my family is completely turkey’d out. But until then, let’s make everything!

So bring on the soups, pie crusts and warm cozy family dinners because before we know it, it’ll be summer and I’ll be passing off homemade strawberry shortcake as a complete dinner. Shhh, don’t tell anyone.

TURKEY POT PIE

Ingredients

  • 2 TBS cooking oil
  • 1/3 cup diced onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 3 TBS flour
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 cup broth
  • 1 red potato
  • 2 carrots
  • ½ cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups cooked turkey
  • ½ tsp. thyme
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ¼ tsp. pepper

Chop and Dice Vegetables

In a saute pan add 2 TBS cooking oil and bring to medium heat.

Dice 1/3 cup onion and cook until soft.

Soft onions in a saute pan.

Add 3 cloves minced garlic and 3 TBS flour. Stir and cook about 30 seconds.

Add ½ cup milk and 1 cup broth. Whisk.

Milk and broth added to the onions.

Chop one potato and 2 carrots. Add to mixture and simmer several minutes.

Add ½ tsp. thyme, ½ tsp. salt and ¼ tsp. pepper. (Be sure to give it a taste and add a bit more salt and pepper to your liking.)

Chop up 2 cups of fully cooked turkey. Add turkey and 1/2 cup frozen peas to the mixture.

Preheat oven to 400°

Preheat oven to 400 degrees and prepare pie crust.

Add vegetable mixture to pie crust and cover with additional round crust.

Poke a steam hole in the middle and bake at 400° for 35-45 minutes. Until the top becomes a golden color.

This turkey pot pie is one of my families favorite recipes. A cozy warm meal that goes great with a side salad and a story or two from everyones day. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does.

Notes

As you are adding the spices be sure to taste as you go and add a bit more salt and pepper to your liking.
