- 6 cups Rice Krispies
- 3 TBS butter
- 40 marshmallows
- food coloring
- pretzels
- M&M's or melted white chocolate for the leaves (optional)
In a large pot, melt 3 TBS butter over medium low heat.
Add 40 regular sized marshmallows and stir until they are melted and smooth. Remove from heat once they are fully melted.
Add a few drops of orange food coloring until you reach the color you're looking for.
Pour in 6 cups Krispie cereal, two cups at a time, and gently stir until all the cereal is coated with the marshmallow mixture.
Let the cereal mixture cool slightly. Allowing it to cool for a few minutes will make it easier to handle and keep its shape. If it's too warm it will be too sticky to try and shape.
One of the easiest tricks for shaping Rice Krispie pumpkins is to lightly spray your hands with cooking spray. Take a handful of mixture and gently roll it into a ball. Then slightly flatten and shape the sides so it resembles a pumpkins. Add a pretzel stick for the stem. You can also use a small chocolate candy such as a Tootsie Roll or Rolo.
For a little extra color, add a small piece of green candy for the leaves. You can also melt white chocolate with a bit of coconut oil and food coloring, then pipe leaves and little vines onto the pumpkins for added decoration. Place the finished pumpkins on parchment paper and allow them to fully set before serving.
