Tips and Storage Directions
- Keep ingredients cold. Colder cream cheese helps keep the mixture firmer and less runny.
- Remove jalapeño seeds for a milder heat before dicing.
- Be sure to grate the cheese yourself as pre-shredded cheese often doesn’t melt as well.
- Watch the breadcrumb topping while baking as the top layer can quickly become too golden.
This recipe is delicious fresh out of the oven but you can also mix the ingredients ahead of time and bake the next day. For leftovers, store in the refrigerator in an airtight container for 3-4 days. Reheat in oven or in the microwave in short bursts until heated through.

Ingredient Substitutions
Sometimes I need to make a few changes to fit what I already have in the refrigerator, and that’s ok because this recipe is easily customizable!
- Colby jack cheese works great in place of cheddar.
- You can easily switch out the sour cream with plain Greek yogurt and it’s just as good!
- If you happen to be missing the breadcrumbs you can make your own by using a food processor to turn leftover bread or burger buns into breadcrumbs. Simply add a bit of olive oil, Italian spice, and salt. Bake for a few minutes before adding to the jalapeño dip as a topping.

This creamy, spicy jalapeno popper dip is one snack we just can’t get enough of! And since it’s made with a lot of staples we usually have in the house, it’s an after school snack we can whip up in no time.
The kids dive in with carrots or crackers and just can’t help but tell us about their day at school. Chatting with us parents and good food? Now that’s a win win! I hope you like it just as much as our family does.
