Homemade healthy snickers on parchment paper.
  • 5 Simple ingredients
  • No baking required
  • Kid-friendly and lunchbox approved
  • Tastes just like a candy bar
  • Ready in no time at all

Ingredients

12 Medjool dates, pitted

⅓ cup creamy peanut butter

¼ cup chopped peanuts or mixed nuts

1 cup chocolate chips

1-2 tsp. coconut oil

Coarse sea salt (optional)

Steps 1-4 of making homemade date snickers bars.

Step by Step Instructions

Prep the dates- Slice each date lengthwise without cutting all the way through. Gently open and remove the pits if needed. Lay flat on parchment paper.

Add the peanut butter- Spoon about 1 tsp. peanut butter inside each date. Be sure not to overfill. You’ll want just enough to create a creamy center.

Add crunch- Sprinkle chopped peanuts or mixed nuts over the peanut butter. Press lightly to make them stick. This will give it the classic Snickers crunch.

Melt the chocolate- In a microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips with 1 tsp. coconut oil in 20-30 second intervals, stirring frequently until nice and smooth.

  • Why add oil?
    • Coconut oil helps thin the chocolate for easy dipping. Making for a smooth coating.
    • You can also thin the chocolate with a splash of milk, but it will create a softer, more fudgy coating instead of firm.
Steps 5-8 of making homemade date snickers bars.

Dip and coat- Dip each stuffed date into the melted chocolate using a fork. Let excess drip off and place on parchment paper. Sprinkle with sea salt for a sweet and salty combo.

Chill- Chill in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes to allow the chocolate to fully set. Enjoy!

  • These are delicious with a dark chocolate coating.
  • Thin your chocolate with a splash of milk instead of coconut oil, but be aware that adding milk will make them a bit softer.
  • Drizzle white chocolate on top for a bakery look.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
