Fall Scavenger Hunt Free Printable! Kids Activity

Last Updated on September 23, 2026 by PorchLightReading

Fall scavenger hunt with free printable! Send the children outside on these gorgeous fall days and let them use their imagination with this kids activity.

Fall is by far my favorite season and it’s easy to see why. The leaves start to turn a beautiful golden color and the air becomes crisp and somehow extra fresh.

The summer heat has finally let up and once again I’m sending the kids outside to play. I’d love to say that they happily scurry off to build a fort or look at bugs while I get to read quietly on the patio, but that’s not always the case. So I created this fall scavenger hunt to get them thinking outside of the box, and create a bit of art using different autumn finds.

As with any of the free printables on this website, this one was immediately tested out by both of our children, and to my surprise it was used a bit different than I had intended. Better even!

After printing out each worksheet they made their way outside looking for each item on the list. They were pretty creative with their autumn finds and were extra quiet while working on their creations.

So I let them have at it while I opened the my book, you know, right at the good part. “Mom check out what I created!” I was so close.

Fall Scavenger Hunt with Free Printable!

This fall scavenger hunt is a creative way to keep them busy and outside for a little while. Simply print out the pages below and see what kind of artwork they come up with.

The first printable is for finding and collecting the “art supplies”. Give each kiddo a small basket or Tupperware for their items and let them wander the yard looking for each one.

We could just end the game at the scavenger hunt, but I thought it might be more fun to use our imagination and create pictures using some of the things we found. This next printable is to give them a few ideas. Maybe we use the acorn and sticks to make a picture of a scarecrow. Or perhaps we find pebbles for the eyes and fall flowers to create an owl.

After seeing my youngest’s initial creation, she was back at her activity and I opened up my book once more. This time I was a bit more successful and they were off creating art using fall twigs, flowers, and moss.

A while later I came to check on them and that’s when I noticed that how I had intended these printable to be used, was a bit different than how they were actually using them. And so much better!

Instead of using the patio as a blank slate for their creations they were using the printable as a coloring page! And their crayons were all of the things they found on the scavenger hunt! The hedgehog was colored in with pine needles, the scarecrow shirt was made out of bark, and the turkey’s feathers were composed of pinecones.

I loved the creative way they were using these sheets of paper so I decided to make some other, larger, animal pages to use for this craft project. Below you’ll find some more coloring pages that you can print out to let your little ones “color” using nature.

Fall Scavenger Hunt Printable Size Small

Since I have two children I found it a bit easier to print out a smaller version. Feel free to use whichever size you prefer. The top ones on this post being the large printouts, or this smaller version that fits onto one full page.

Although this fall craft isn’t super in depth, it did get them outside using their imaginations and creating something a little bit festive and different. I hope you enjoy this printout as much as my kids do and we’ll see you on our next project! Happy Fall!
