Beer Brats

Best Beer Brat Beer

At the moment the world is a little upside down, so we went with a beer we could find. It ended up being a porter that gave a really nice flavor. You can also use a lager, stout, brown ale, or something you’ll enjoy with your brat that’s heavier on the flavor profile.

I wouldn’t recommend IPA’s as they can be a bit bitter.

How to cook Beer Brats

Start by adding butter and onions to the pan. Bring two bottles of beer to a boil and reduce to a simmer. Add your brats. The brats should be close to fully coved with beer.

Add a couple of dashes of red pepper flakes and start with 1-2 tablespoons of brown sugar. Simmer for 10-12 minutes, until fully cooked.

While the brats are cooking start your grill. Remove brats and place on grill over medium high heat. Continue to cook your beer mixture on a light simmer for an additional 5 minutes.

Once the brats are golden brown they are ready to eat!

Beer Brats Condiments

You can use the onion beer mixture as a topping or for dipping. It also pairs well with spicy brown mustard, sauerkraut and relish.

Voila!- In 30 minutes you have delicious beer brats. Starting this summer off early, the right way.
